Katse kohti kautta 2024

Kaudelle 2023 croconaiset palasivat uudistuneena ja sisukkaana joukkueena kahden edellisen haastavan kauden jälkeen. Joukkueen uudelleenrakennus aloitettiin 2-divisioonasta ja tavoitteena oli rakentaa vahva perusta tulevaisuutta varten sekä pelata ehjä kausi. Kauden lopuksi molemmat tavoitteet oli saavutettu ja lisäksi naiset saavuttivat 2-divisioonan kolmannen sijan.

Kaudella 2024 naisten joukkueen päävalmentajana jatkaa Charlie Ovey. Viime kaudella tehty pohjatyö sekä pelaaja- että valmentajavahvistukset antavat joukkueelle mahdollisuuden ottaa askel eteenpäin kohti huipputason jenkkifutista. Ensi kaudella Crocodiles Naiset nähdään 1-divisioonassa. 

“I am very glad that I can continue with the womens team. When I started working with the team one of my goals was to get the team back to the top level of football and we are now one year further along that path. The team we played with last year developed tremendously through the year and I’m very excited to see how they play at the 11s level.” Ovey kommentoi jatkosopimustaan ja tulevaa kautta.

Croconaiset on nähty 1-divisioonassa viimeksi vuonna 2021. Ovey on innoissaan, että naisten joukkue nähdään taas tällä sarjatasolla:

“I am very excited to compete in division 1. It is great to have Crocodiles Naiset playing 11s again and be one step closer to the goal of playing at the highest level. I personally really enjoy the challenges that come at this particular league level, I hope my years of previous experience at this level will be a difference maker for us this season and I am very excited at the chance to see some familiar opponents again.”

Viime vuoden rosterin lisäksi useampi paluumuuttaja sekä lukuisat uudet pelaajat pukevat kesällä vihreää päälleen. Lisäksi joukkueen valmennustiimi on saanut uusia jäseniä riveihinsä. Ensi kauden joukkuetta Ovey kuvaa monipuoliseksi ja taidokkaaksi:

“There will definitely be a mix of players with a lot of experience, new-er ones and brand new rookies. As always the challenge is to get the rookies to the same level as the returning players as quickly as possible while keeping practice meaningful for those with more experience. We will have players with national team experience, Maple League experience who I hope will provide a good example of what football could and should be. Almost overnight the team has become stacked with talent at every position and it is a fun problem to solve how to get each player as much playing time as they deserve. The chemistry on the women’s team this year is very unique and I am really happy I get to work with so many capable players and coaches.”

Joukkueen valmistautuminen kohti kautta 2024 on aloitettu, joten tervetuloa seuraamaan naisten matkaa kohti paluuta 1-divisioonaan. Pelaaja- ja valmentajasopimusten julkaiseminen alkaa pian, joten pysy kuulolla! Nähdään ensi kesänä kotisuolla Wirokit-stadionilla!
